Hormone Optimization

Hormone optimization at Nascent Health is bioidentical hormone replacement calibrated through comprehensive lab analysis rather than symptoms alone. It is available now at both clinics, beginning with a consultation and a full hormonal panel.

What does bioidentical mean?

Bioidentical hormones are molecularly identical to the hormones your body produces. The goal of optimization is not to push levels as high as possible, but to restore the ranges in which you actually function well.

Hormones sit upstream of energy, sleep, mood, body composition, libido, and cognitive clarity, which is why a decline rarely shows up as one clean symptom. It shows up as a picture: flatter energy, slower recovery, disrupted sleep, a change in drive.

Because the picture is layered, we do not prescribe from a questionnaire. Optimization starts with comprehensive bloodwork, drawn and run in-house, and every adjustment afterward is made against repeat labs rather than guesswork.

How is dosing calibrated?

From your labs, your history, and your response, in that order. The starting protocol comes from a comprehensive hormonal panel; the ongoing protocol comes from how your follow-up labs and your symptoms actually move.

Delivery method is chosen with you at consultation based on your protocol, your preferences, and how your levels respond over time.

This is also where treating hormones inside a regenerative practice matters: thyroid, metabolic, inflammatory, and nutrient markers are read alongside sex hormones, because a hormone problem is frequently entangled with the systems around it.

Is this for men or women?

Both. Men typically arrive with declining energy, drive, and recovery; women most often arrive navigating perimenopause or menopause. The workup differs, the principle does not: measure first, then calibrate.

For either, the honest framing is the same one we use across the practice: optimization is designed to support the systems underneath how you feel, and whether it is appropriate for you is determined from your own labs and history, not assumed in advance.

Candidacy

Who is this for?

Available at Nascent for men and women, calibrated from comprehensive lab work. Booked through a consultation.

  • Energy, sleep, or drive that has flattened without an obvious cause
  • Perimenopause or menopause symptoms you want addressed from labs, not guesswork
  • Men with declining recovery, motivation, or body composition
  • “Normal” labs that never included a comprehensive hormonal panel
  • Patients already in a regenerative protocol whose hormones are the missing layer

What the process looks like

  1. 01

    Comprehensive panel

A full hormonal workup drawn in-house, read alongside thyroid, metabolic, inflammatory, and nutrient markers, not in isolation.

  2. 02

    Consultation & protocol design

Dr. Southern reviews your labs and history with you, and if optimization is appropriate, designs the protocol and delivery method around your biology.

  3. 03

    Calibration

Follow-up labs on a set cadence. Doses are adjusted against measured response, which is the difference between optimization and simply being on hormones.

  4. 04

    Ongoing monitoring

Hormones change as you do. Monitoring continues for as long as you are on the protocol, at both clinics.

Where can I get Hormone Optimization?

Everyone at this office is wonderful to work with. Great communication from both Dr and staff. They even accommodated a virtual visit for me while at our second home for the summer. Dr Southern is really considering all aspects of my treatment to dial in the best plan as we go. Making adjustments as needed etc.

I have been seeing Dr. Southern for the past couple of years almost and she is absolutely wonderful! I appreciate how thorough she is and how she takes the time to get to the root cause of things rather than just treating the symptoms.

Hormone Optimization, common questions

Is hormone optimization covered by insurance?

No. Like the rest of our care, it is a direct-pay service, though you can route the lab work through your insurance if you prefer, and HSA/FSA cards are accepted.

How is this different from testosterone clinics or online hormone services?

Mostly in what gets measured and who is watching. Your protocol is designed and monitored by Dr. Southern from a comprehensive panel, inside a practice that can also see and address the thyroid, metabolic, and inflammatory picture around your hormones.

How quickly will I feel different?

Response varies substantially between patients, and any clinic promising a specific timeline is guessing. What we commit to is measurement: follow-up labs on a set cadence, and honest adjustment based on what they show.

Can hormone optimization be combined with regenerative therapies?

Frequently, and that is one reason to address hormones here rather than in isolation. Hormonal status affects recovery and inflammation, so it is often sequenced alongside stem cell, exosome, or IV ozone protocols.
