What the Research Reveals

Vitamin C and Immune Function

High-dose intravenous vitamin C (IVC) has been studied for its potential to modulate immune responses. For instance, a systematic review indicated that high-dose IVC might reduce overall mortality in critically ill patients, though the results were not statistically significant across all studies. The review suggested that high-dose IVC monotherapy showed a trend toward improved outcomes, but further randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Zinc and Immune Function

Zinc plays a crucial role in maintaining immune system function. While some studies suggest that zinc supplementation can reduce the duration and severity of the common cold, the evidence is mixed. The effectiveness of zinc in IV therapy formats has not been conclusively proven in large-scale clinical trials.

Glutathione as an Antioxidant

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that helps combat oxidative stress and supports immune health. Some studies have explored its role in reducing inflammation and enhancing immune responses. However, comprehensive clinical trials specifically evaluating the efficacy of glutathione administered via IV for immune support are limited.

B Vitamins and Immune Health

B vitamins, including B12 and B-complex, are essential for energy production and overall health. While deficiencies in these vitamins can impair immune function, there is insufficient evidence to support the routine use of high-dose B vitamins through IV therapy for immune enhancement in healthy individuals.
